Foodie 365 | Week 41

I haven't updated my Foodie 365 for how many weeks because of many reasons, but here's an update. I am now on my Week 42.

Sardines with Bok Choy

281. Sardines with Bok Choy and Vermicelli

I took on this habit-a-week challenge, and even if I decided to restart for my weight loss journey, I think I have already developed the habit of eating veggies, and for tonight's dinner, I went to the market to buy two small cans of sardines (in tomato sauce) and some bok choy and a small pack of vermicelli noodles. A very simple dish, but healthy. :)

KFC

282. KFC Hot and Crispy

After the Lee Kum Kee Cooking with the Masters grand cooking demo at Glorietta, sister and I went to eat at KFC because for sure there will be no dinner waiting for us when we got home.

Lunch

283. Corned Beef with Potatoes and Mushrooms

I did a lot of house chores today, so I just reheated the left over food from yesterday's lunch.

Adobong Kangkong

284. Adobong Kangkong

Veggies for today! I love kangkong and I love adobo, so why not cook adobong kangkong?

Paksiw na Bangus

285. Paksiw na Bangus

Aunt Mary gave us some seafood from Pangasinan, so I cooked the bangus mom bought a few days before. Still taking on the habit of eating veggies, I asked friends what veggies I could add, and they said eggplant and ampalaya, so I went to the market (a good reason to walk) and bought the veggies.

Steamed Fish with Black Bean Tapenade

286. Steamed Fish Fillet with Black Bean Tapenade by Crustasia

Siblings and I went to the Appetite Magazine Restaurant Festival 2011 (full story on that tomorrow). I got to eat a lot, but among my favorites include this one by Crustasia.

Sinigang na Baka

287. Sinigang na Baka

Weekend is about to come, but we still haven't cooked the beef ribs we ordered last weekend, so I went to cook it. I asked sister if she preferred Sinigang or Nilaga, and she chose Sinigang because she wanted to eat taro. Well, comparing the health benefits from potatoes and cabbage (nilaga) to sitaw and kangkong (sinigang), I think it's healthier to eat sinigang. :)

Foodie 365 | Week 37

I wasn't able to post this yesterday because Internet suddenly became slow, so might as well share this now in case it rains later again. Here are the foods for Week 37:

253. Shamrock Baked Polvoron

253. Baked Polvoron by Shamrock

I got home from my vacation weeks ago, but we still haven't opened any of the food packs we brought home, and because I had this "need" to blog about the Shamrock products, I decided to open this for our snacks today.

254. Siomai with Mixed Veggies

254. Siomai with Mixed Veggies

Eating at least one kind of vegetable everyday is slowly becoming a habit for me, and I am starting to love this kind of foodie routine.

255. Laing con Kangkong

255. Laing con Kangkong

The night before, brother went home from a team building with some packs of the Ulalaaam ready to eat food. I still haven't tasted the Laing flavored one, so for today's lunch, I decided to open the pack to save me from cooking. I noticed that one pack didn't have that much food inside, and thankful to the bunch of Kangkong I had in the fridge, I was able to double its volume. Very simple lunch, but I liked it.

256. Papa John's Pizza

256. Super Papa Pizza by Papa John's

Today is mom's birthday, and since there's a new food place in the mall, we went to celebrate mom's birthday there. To save money and to taste more food, we decided to go for the small sized pizza. Aside from this one, we also ordered the Grilled Chicken Pizza. Both pizza tasted so good, we will surely be back to eat there.
257. Shamrock Rosquillos

257. Rosquillos by Shamrock

Another pack of Shamrock food opened.

258. Beef Nilaga

258. Beef Nilaga

In one very old episode of the Biggest Loser Australia, one of the trainors (I think it was Shannan) said that protein has to be about 100 grams only. I am not sure if he meant weighing the protein before cooking it or weighing it before eating it, so I took out the food scale to weigh my beef. At first I thought 100 grams wouldn't be enough, but as I put beef on the scale I come to realize that 100 grams is actually more than enough to make one feel full. Actually, the beef on my plate weighed only 70 grams, just in case what Shannan meant was "100 grams uncooked protein." :)

259. Bibimbap

259. Bibimbap

I bought zucchini last week hoping to cook a frittata, but I forgot to include a pack of sweet ham, so I just cooked Bibimbap for today's lunch. Good thing the family liked it. :)

Foodie 365 | Week 36

Before a quite lengthy round up of changes, here are the foods for Week 36:

246. Taho

246. Taho

My sister, our neighbor Ria, and I got back to jogging at Colinas Verdes. Before going home, we saw a taho vendor and we decided to buy a small cup each just to reward ourselves (well, we only eat taho every Saturdays).

247. Pizza Pasta Salad

247. Pizza, Pasta, Salad
Chef d'Angelo - SM City Fairview

After hearing the mass at the mall, mom told sis and I that we should eat early lunch first before doing the grocery shopping. Sister told us that Chef d'Angelo is having an "Eat-All-You-Can" promo on pasta, salad, and pizza from 11am-2pm (and again at 5-8pm), so we waited for an hour at the restaurant just to avail it. Well, we decided to go for it because while we were thinking of what to eat, we computed the amount of foods and mom's choice of food already summed to 200, whereas the promo would only cost us 150 each.

I loved Chef d'Angelo's pizza! It was thin crust yet very soft, and I did love their garden pizza... so delicious without the guilt feeling. :)

248. Fitnesse Cereal

248. Fitnesse Low-Fat Whole Wheat Cereals

I saw a TVC for the Fitnesse 14 day challenge and I wanted to give it a try as it would also be a good way of taking in calcium (milk) because I admit I lack calcium. As per package instructions, one should take 30 grams (a little less than 1 cup) of the Fitnesse cereal + 125 ml. of low fat milk for breakfast and any other mill (either lunch or dinner). I decided to eat the cereal for breakfast and dinner, and at first I doubted if the 30 grams of cereal would able to get me through the entire morning, but it did.

249. Tomato and Herb Bruschetta

249. Tomato and Herb Bruschetta

Today, my brother and I attended the SM Master Chefs Cooking Marathon at SM City Fairview. The first dish cooked by Chef Deejay was the Tomato and Herb Bruschetta, something that really tickled my taste buds because of its many flavors. If you want to know how to prepare this, I will be sharing the recipe this coming Tuesday.

250. Salmon Head Sinigang

250. Salmon Head Sinigang

I am trying my best to include vegetables in my diet, so instead of cooking my share of the salmon head into paksiw, I decided to cook sinigang instead, so I could add veggies.

I didn't know what happened to me today... everything was a-okay until 2 hours after eating my lunch. My tummy started aching and I couldn't say if it was because of acid, if it was because I ate quite a lot for lunch, if it was because of the water I drank while jogging this morning, if it was because of the milk, if it was because I still forced myself to do Hip Hop Abs, or if it was because of all of these reasons. I was so sick that afternoon that I decided to stop the Fitnesse cereal dinner because maybe my tummy was starting to react with the milk (I am not 100% lactose intolerant, but I can only take minimal amounts of milk and other dairy products).

Anyway, I got to read one weight-loss success story, and one of the tips given by the sharer was "to not buy a food item which you can't have control of." I realized it was the salmon head for me. I noticed I am eating a whole lot whenever I cook the salmon head, so this will be the last time I'd eat salmon head... for this year.

251. Beef Stroganoff Pasta

251. Beef Stroganoff Pasta

As per family's order, I paused my Fitnesse Challenge, but I will go back when my tummy's feeling okay already. For brunch, I cooked this pasta using the recipe I learned at the event I attended last Tuesday.

{Please check the previous post for the recipe.}

252. Toast with Malunggay Spread

252. Toasted Bread with Malunggay Spread

While in Bohol, we were able to tour the the Bohol Bee Farm, and inside their souvenir shop, they also had some spreads for sale, which shoppers can get to taste as they have one opened bottle per spread and lots of containers with bite size bread pieces inside. Between Coriander and Malunggay spreads, I found the malunggay more delicious, so when mom told me she'd buy one container, I requested if we could get the malunggay instead. This spread had a hint of garlic (which I'd say was overpowering), but I really love it.

I think by now you noticed two changes here on my blog. One was the header. Now that I am trying to lose weight and that I don't eat like I used to, I don't think I can live up to the tagline "I Live to Eat!" anymore. Also, one of the lessons I learned about Blog Branding at the Bloggers Fiesta Manila, it's much better to have the same blog URL and blog name/title so this blog is now officially called, "Tara, Let's Eat!"

Also about branding, I decided to change the way I put "watermark" on my images. Instead of putting my name, I am now going to watermark my images with my blog's URL, so when I upload the images on my Facebook account or share it on different forums, people who can see my images can also see my blog's URL. I think that's one of the good ways of driving traffic. :)

I maintain five blogs, and at times, one particular image I edited is shared on different blogs. With this new change in watermarking my images, I knew I had to edit one image more than one time if needed, but it's a change I am willing to embrace.

Foodie 365 | Week 33

At first I was posting my Foodie 365 posts every Saturdays, then lately I was posting it every Sundays for the Yummy Sunday meme, but because I was busy cleaning my closet and I played "the Sims 2" yesterday, my post is obviously very late.

Without further intro, here are the foods that made up my Week 33:

Chatime

225. Chatime

Robinson's Galleria

After sis and I attended the Yummy Magazine Cooking Demo, we passed by Chatime, which sis said serves good milk tea drinks. I went to order their bestseller - the Pearl Milk Tea, while sister went for their Mango Smoothie because I already ordered her first choice. :)

My first milk tea drink was Chowking's nai-cha, and I didn't like it because it had a very strong taste. The pearl milk tea of Chatime is much, much better... and I really love to have a taste of it again.

Jolly Hotdog

226. Jolly Hotdog

Lazy weekends again... and we opted to have foods delivered. Obviously, I went for their hotdog sandwich because I am trying to eat less (hekhekhek).

Laguna Afritada

227. Laguna Afritada

There are so many recipe food memes, and I hoped to join all of them, but I admit it was difficult to try at least two recipes a week. This week, though, I was able to cook one - the Laguna Afritada. If you want to try it out, you can check the recipe HERE.

My Dinner

228. Chicken, Tofu, and Mung Bean Sprouts

Us siblings are big chicken eaters. We can certainly live eating fried chicken everyday. For tonight's dinner, sister requested for fried chicken, and brother used the McCormick Buffalo Wings mix to bread the chicken and because sister wasn't into spicy dishes, the sauce was served on the side. Brother also cooked the firm tofu in oyster sauce and chili garlic sauce, as well as stir fry some mung bean sprouts just to add a vegetable to the meal.

This plate was my dinner for that day - a piece of thigh fried chicken, 1/4 cup of bean sprouts, 10 pieces 1x1 cube tofu, and 3/4 cup of rice.

Spicy Pesto

229. Spicy Pesto-Carbonara Pasta

This wasn't my main dinner that night, but I did get to taste some of this pasta, which our neighbors gave us. At first glance it looked like carbonara (minus the cream) because of the toasted bacon bits, but under the nest of spaghetti were chopped herbs, and some slices of button mushrooms and black olives. Although way too spicy, it was also delicious, and I am thinking of cooking it my way, too.

C-Lium in Water

230. C-Lium in Water

Even if I am cutting back on food, I notice that I am not taking in enough fibre - I don't eat that much fruits, I cannot encourage myself to eat oatmeal and it's not always that we eat veggies. The solution I came up with was to buy C-Lium Fibre.

Honestly, it didn't taste good and my body had some negative reactions to it, but my sister told me I shouldn't give up on it quite easily because in time my body will adjust to it well enough. For now, I am just thankful that I am getting a little help introducing fibre in my body.

BLT Crepe

231. BLT Crepe

Crepes & Cream - SM City Fairview

It was QC Day so mom was home. Us three girls went to watch "the Smurfs" in 3D as well as do grocery shopping. Before going home, mom asked if we could have some snacks, and since sister is craving for ice cream the past few days, we went to eat snacks at Crepes & Cream. They went for the ice cream crepes, while I opted to go savory - because I think tomatoes and lettuce was a good option compared to ice cream.

I took this picture while they were preparing my crepe. They wrap the crepes and serve it in paper cones, so I took the picture before they folded the crepe.
