Progresso Recipe Starters Giveaway

views the best pictures

When Progresso asked me to feature this new product on my blog, I jumped at the opportunity. Progresso is a name I am very familiar with because of their line of main stream Gluten Free Soups.   It never occurred to me at the time that Progresso's new Recipe Starters line would contain wheat.  I mean, why would they?  I am so glad that looking over labels is now such a habit that I do so without realizing.  These soups are not safe for those who NEED to be on a Gluten Free diet.

I decided to keep the review and blog it anyway.  Why?  Now don't judge but I happen to have a bunch of readers who either don't necessarily need to be on a Gluten Free diet OR have folks in their house who can eat wheat (like we used to be) and make two meals.  This review is for you guys!!!!  But hey, don't let this new line of soups stop you from entering!  $10 can buy lots of Progresso's Vegetable Classics Creamy Mushroom soup for your Gluten Free recipe creations!  Just use Creamy Mushroom soup and add some thickener and go on with the recipe as written.

I am giving away one complete Progresso Recipe Starters Kit. Your kit will arrive complete with the follwing items:

  • 2 cans of Progresso Recipe Starter's Cooking Sauce,
  • A Condiment Spoon/Sauce Scraper
  • A set of Measure Up Cups,
  • A single sized Oven Baking Dish,
  • Cookbook,
  • and last but not least, $10 gift card to help you purchase the rest of your ingredients
Progresso Recipe Starters has 5 flavors to choose from including Garlic, Basil, Tomato, Cheese and Mushroom.  Again, they do contain wheat.

To be fair I tried out one of the recipes on my mother who happily eats wheat. My mother is 70 years old and still works 7 hours a day and is dog tired at the end of the work day. As a surprise I snuck into her house and put all the ingredients for Pulled Chicken Sandwiches in her small crock pot on low.  I simply purchased a store bought rotisserie chicken, shredded it and added the rest of the ingredients into the crock pot. I made sure I set out fresh rolls and cole slaw for when she returned.

Her comments?  It is the sort of thing that brings tears to your eyes.  She insisted that I was the sweetest, best daughter that a mother could ever ask for.  That I truly was her gift from god!  LOL.  Seriously it was not that big of a deal and it took very little effort on my part.  She really enjoyed the hot meal and was impressed at how easy it all was to do.  The cook book has 5 great ideas like this for busy mom's on the go.  I would still use the recipes and make the Gluten Free substitutes like we GF moms always do.

So, would you like to win?  Great I am keeping it simple right now.  I am seriously lacking Twitter friends so that is what I want you to do first......   Use Rafflecopter below to enter!
