Pan de Pao

Nearly a month ago, mom came home and handed me her lunch box with some pressed buns inside. It looked pretty much like ordinary Pan de Sal for me, but mom insisted I give it a taste. It was the filling that sets it apart from an ordinary Pan de Sal.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to photograph it because mom only took home 4 pieces and the three remaining ones were so flat, it wouldn't look good in pictures.

Thankfully last Friday, mom took home some more of the special Pan de Sal, and because she brought quite a lot (well, just 10 pieces), I was then able to take pictures of it to share here on my blog.

What looked like an ordinary Pan de Sal actually have an Asado filling, the kind that's inside a Siopao. It tasted really good, and us in the family became instant fans of it. The bread is quite soft and tasted much better when re-heated in an oven toaster. We also loved that it had lots of filling, definitely money's worth! Each Pan de Pao, as they call it, is just p5 each.

Mom didn't know the name of the bakery, but she did say it was from a bakery located along Maligaya Road (fronting SM City Fairview, Quirino Avenue side). Hmmm... if brother goes there to attend a prayer meeting, I might ask him to locate this bakery and snap a picture.
